Residents In Fear As Armed Men Allegedly Abduct Chief Of Assin Wurakese

Residents of Assin Wurakese are demanding urgent answers following the alleged abduction of their chief, Nana Professor Okogyeaman Ameyaw Dankwa Okokro II, by unidentified armed men.
The incident reportedly occurred around 5:30 a.m. near Nkukuasa, at the premises of the Okogyeaman Cocoa Research Institute, where the chief resides.
Eyewitnesses say the masked assailants, wielding sophisticated weapons, forcefully entered his residence, dragged him from his bedroom, and shoved him into a Mitsubishi pickup with registration number GN-833-24 before speeding off to an unknown location.
The situation has thrown the community into a state of fear and confusion.
Residents and staff of the Cocoa Research Institute say they are deeply shaken and unable to carry out their daily activities.
“We are living in fear. Until we know where our chief is and who took him, we can’t work or sleep peacefully,” one resident stated.
Meanwhile, the private security officer on duty at the time, Mr. Nicholas Antwi, recounted his terrifying encounter with the alleged abductors, describing how he was overpowered and left helpless.
Residents are now calling on the Ghana Police Service and national security agencies to urgently investigate the matter and ensure the safe return of their chief.
