Left To Rot Assin North DCE Commits To Revive 9-Year-Old Abandoned Health Facility At Assin Kyiano

The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Assin North, Hon. Sylvester Amakye Nyarkoh, has pledged to complete, furnish, and commission the Community-based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) compound at Assin Kyiano, which has been abandoned for over nine years.
The project, which was initiated under a previous New Patriotic Party (NPP) administration, has since been left to deteriorate.
During his inspection tour of development projects in the district, Hon. Amakye Nyarkoh visited the CHPS compound and expressed disappointment at its current state, which was overgrown with weeds, damaged windows and door frames, and visible signs of structural defects.
The floor screeding was observed to be sinking, indicating shoddy workmanship by the original contractor.
Hon. Amakye emphasized the urgent need for quality healthcare delivery in the area, noting that residents of Assin Kyiano currently have to travel long distances to nearby towns to access basic medical care.
“The lives of our people matter, and it is unacceptable that such an important health facility has been abandoned for this long,” he stated.
Hon. Amakye Nyarkoh stressed that government projects are funded with taxpayers’ money, and no initiative should be left unfinished due to changes in political leadership.
He assured the community that the NDC government will prioritize the completion of the facility and ensure it is put to good use for the benefit of the people.
He also issued a strong warning to contractors who deliver substandard work, stating that such negligence would not be tolerated going forward.
The DCE during the tour was accompanied by the District Coordinating Director, Mr. Newman, along with other officials from the Assembly.
