Former Assembly Member And NADMO Staff Drowns In Afiesu River At Abira

The NADMO Director for Kwabere East District in the Ashanti region, Hon. P.V. Obeng, a former assembly member, has tragically drowned in the Afiesu River at Abira.
According to the Assembly member for the area, Hon. Isaac Owusu Benpah, Mr. Obeng was undergoing treatment for an undisclosed illness, but it is unclear what led him to the river.
The news of his death has sent shockwaves through the community, with many describing it as a big blow to the people of Kwabere.
As the Director of NADMO, Mr. Obeng played a crucial role in protecting the community from disasters, making his untimely death all the more devastating.
The Kyeame of the area Nana Adu Antwi has advised residents to avoid swimming in the river on Tuesdays, citing it as a taboo.
He described Mr. Obeng is a good person, particularly during his tenure as an assembly member.

The community has been called upon to perform rituals for the river, considering the incident a calamity.
