Asantehemaa Funeral – MANHYIA PALACE SHUTS DOWN ALL ECONOMIC AND EDUCATIONAL ACTIVITIES IN KUMASI

The Asantehene’s Palace has directed the shut down of all economic and educational activities in the Ashanti regional capital Kumasi on Thursday September 18, 2025 . As part of funeral activities of the late Asantehemaa Nana Konadu Yiadom III . As part of the traditions residents of Kumasi are expected to observe an indoor curfew from 7pm on Thursday to 4 am where the queen mother would be transition to the royal mousoleum at Breman in the Suame Municipality of the Ashanti region .there is more in the following report .
Addressing journalists in Kumasi to outlined the burial activities of the Late Asantehemaa Nana Konadu Yiadom III , The Planning committee Chairman , Ambassador Nana Effah Apenteng who doubles as the chief of Bompata explained the closure of all instituitions including Banks and Schools in the Kumasi metropolis meant to honor the memory of the Queen mother and allow residents to participate fully in the solemn rites.
He however urged the public to strictly adhere to the directives , stressing the cultural significance of the funeral which is termed as ” Dote Yie ” and the need for residents to uphold Asante traditions with dignity and reverence .
The interment and the final rites of the Asantehemaa span for 4 days from monday to Thursday .
On the final day the body of the late Asantehemaa will be moved from the Manhyia palace to Bantama Royal mousoleum for some rites and later to the Breman Royal Mousoleum where the body will finally rest in the bossom of the ancesstors .
Nana Konadu Yiadom III served as the 14th Asantehemaa from 2017 until her passing in 2025 at age 98.
She was the biological sister of the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, and succeeded their mother, Nana Afia Serwaa Kobi Ampem II.
