Western Regional National Security Warning To Illegal Miners Operating On The Ankobra River

The Western Regional National Security Liaison Officer, Brigadier General Musah Whajah (Rtd), has issued a stern warning to illegal miners operating on the Ankobra River and its banks, who plan to work on the river during the Christmas festivities to stay away.

He says joint security forces will now conduct persistent day and night patrols along the entire stretch of the river to ultimately restore the Ankobra River to its original.

During a recent security operation on the Ankobra River near Ampansie in the Evalue Gwira Municipality, personnel from the Western Naval Command and National Security seized a canoe loaded with four changfang machines.

The illegal miners had fled the scene upon their arrival, abandoning the equipment.

According to the Western Regional National Security Liaison Officer, Brigadier General Musah Whajah (Rtd), this incident underscores the effectiveness of consistent patrols in safeguarding the river.

He issued a stern warning to illegal miners on the Ankobra that there will be relentless, day-and-night patrols along the entire stretch during the Christmas period.

According to him, this sustained security presence is the essential measure to secure the waterbody and return the Ankobra River to health.
