Awutu Traditional Council Announces Restrictions On 2026 Awubia Festival Activities Over Omanhene’s Death.
The Nananom of the Awutu Traditional Council in the Central Region have announced restrictions on activities for this year’s 2026 Awutu Awubia Festival following the death of the Omahene and President of the Awutu Traditional Council, Nai Abokuade Agyemang Wyettey Otabil III.
According to Nananom, some activities that are traditionally held during the festival have been restricted as part of measures to observe the mourning period.
Speaking to the media, the Acting President of the Awutu Traditional Council, Nai Gyaase Kwashie Ahene, urged all communities within the traditional council, including Ofaakor, Kweshi Abbey, Bawjiase, Kasoa and other surrounding communities, to adhere to the directives.
He explained that Nananom will perform the necessary traditional rituals to pacify the gods and the stools in the various families. However, all entertainment-related activities have been restricted.
Meanwhile, the Acting President has also announced the opening of a book of condolences to the public for people to sign in memory of the late Awutu Omahene Nai Abokuade Agyemang Wyettey III.
