Adankwaman SHS Cries For Help As Infrastructure Crumbles After Rainstorm Disaster

Adankwaman Senior High School (ADANSEC) in the Assin South District is in dire need of urgent intervention, as students and school authorities raise alarm over the deteriorating state of infrastructure and learning conditions.

The school, which was hit by a devastating rainstorm months ago, has since struggled with lack of dormitories, dilapidated classrooms, damaged roofs, broken furniture, and inadequate science laboratory equipment, all of which continue to hinder effective teaching and learning.

Speaking during the handing over of building materials by a concerned youth group from Assin Darmang and nearby communities, to the school, the Senior School Prefect, Emmanuel Hanson and other students painted a grim picture of the current state of affairs at the school.

He noted that after the rainstorm, students have been forced to take lessons in a temporary structure off-campus, with multiple classes combined due to lack of classroom space.

“The shortage of furniture affects our comfort and concentration.
We face serious challenges, from water shortages to an unusable dining hall,” the Senior Prefect said, appealing to government and other benevolent organizations for help.

The youth group presented two trips of sand, a trip of chippings, 30 bags of cement, and 30 pieces of iron rods to support the school’s rebuilding efforts.

Receiving the items on behalf of the school, Mr. Stephen Mintah, Assistant Headmaster in charge of Administration, expressed gratitude, saying the support had come at a crucial time.

“Our students are going through hell to access education. ADANSEC is one of the best schools in the area academically, but infrastructure-wise, we are far behind. We call on stakeholders to support us,” Mr. Mintah pleaded.

Explaining the motivation behind the gesture, Mr. Frank Gyamfi, a member of the youth group, said they were moved by the pitiful condition of the school after the rainstorm.
He called on others to lend a helping hand to restore the dignity and learning environment of ADANSEC.

The students, teachers, and the local community hope this call for support reaches the appropriate quarters before the situation worsens.
