Passing Of Dead Animals For Human Consumption Suame Abattoir Management Debunks Public Allegation

The management of Sabtiu Musah Abattoir in Suame of the Ashanti Region have strongly debunked allegations levelled by some individuals.

According to the allegations, the slaughterhouse pass out dead animals for human consumption.

This allegations follows yesterday, January 14, 2026, incident where about 22 goats and 4 sheep (26 animals) were found dead on arrival at the slaughterhouse from Bauku as a result of suffocation.

Responding to this allegations, the Vetinary doctor in charge of the slaughterhouse, Mr. Shaibu Ewora, said it is never true that they pass out dead or infectious animals for human consumption.

“We transported all the dead animals to the Kumasi Zoo for the Zoo animals’ consumption”.

“But none of the dead animals were infected because even before we send dead animals from the slaughterhouse to the Zoo, we make sure they are fit for the animals consumption.” He added.

Mr. Ewora therefore urged the public to quash any allegations as such.
