Shock As Woman’s Body Found Floating In River At Assin Atonsu.
Residents of Assin Atonsu in the Assin Fosu Municipality of the Central Region have been left in shock following the discovery of a woman’s body floating in the Assin Atonsu River.
The body, which was yet to be retrieved from the river as of the time of filing this story, is believed to have been in the river for several days, as it was badly swollen and bore visible bruises on parts of it.
Eyewitnesses said the deceased is not known within the community. However, a commercial driver in the area claimed the woman is suspected to have been a client at a prayer camp at Assin Adubiase.
Residents have since called on the police to launch a full investigation into the circumstances surrounding her death.
Meanwhile, the Oman Abusuapanin of Assin Atonsu, Nana Twumasi, told Angel News that the police have been notified about the incident.
He indicated that customary rites would be performed before the body is removed from the river, in accordance with local tradition.
The ritual, he explained, is intended to seek spiritual direction from the river deity to determine whether the woman drowned accidentally or was killed by unknown assailants.
