Cape Coast Metro Assembly Issues 24-hour Ultimatum On Illegal Structures, Broken-Down Vehicles.

The Cape Coast Metropolitan Assembly has issued a 24-hour ultimatum to residents to remove illegal structures and broken-down vehicles mounted on major roads and principal streets in the metropolis.

This follows the assembly’s this morning, impoundment of illegal cars, tricycles (pragya), and structures.

The directive was issued this morning Tuesday 3rd March during an ongoing decongestion exercise on cape coast’s major roads and principal streets.

According to the assembly aims to decongest the area, restore order, improve pedestrian and vehicular movement, and bring sanity to commercial zones.

Taskforce comprises personnel from the Ghana Police Service, Ghana Fire Service, assembly city guards, NADMO, and the Works Department.

Addressing the media on the ongoing decongestion exercise, the taskforce leader, Assembly Environmental Officer Mr. Emmanuel Forson said the operation aims to address congestion on principal streets and sanitation issues ahead of the rainy season.

 

Mr. Forson added that the assembly has given a 24-hour ultimatum to all individuals to remove illegal structures and broken-down vehicles parked in the metropolis, or face further prosecution

Some individuals spoke to press about the town’s decongestion exercise, with mixed reactions emerging.
