Shama Municipality Parliamentary Select Committee On Energy Assess Volta River Authorities Operations At Aboadze.

The Parliamentary Select Committee On Energy under the chairmanship of *Hon. Emmanuel Kwasi Bedzrah* has assessed the operations and activities of the Volta River Authority at Aboadze within the Shama Municipality in the Western Region.



‎Addressing Aboadze VRA staffs with the purpose of the visit, Hon. Emmanuel Kwasi Bedzrah, Chairman of the Parliamentary Select Committee on Energy who serves as the Member of Parliament for Ho West Constituency, stated that their primary goal was to assess and understand VRA’s operations firsthand.



‎He noted that this will enable Parliament to make informed decisions during debates on VRA’s budget and projects.

‎Furthermore, Hon. Emmanuel Kwasi Bedzrah reiterated VRA’s strong preparedness to undertake the development of the 1,200 megawatts of power they are set to construct.



‎Meanwhile, The Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Volta River Authority, Ing. Edward Ekow Obeng-Kenzo, confidently announced the institution’s preparedness to build new power plants across the country.

‎He stated that ample lands are available for these projects, underscoring VRA’s readiness to proceed.


‎ING. EDWARD EKOW OBENG-KENZO disclosed this to the media during a working visit by the Parliamentary Select Committee on Energy at the Volta River Authority in Aboadze, Shama Municipality.



‎He emphasised that the VRA has secured land in Tema, Kpong, Ahumaso Combined Cycle, and Gomoa, following the master plan diligently.

‎Furthermore, Ing. Obeng-Kenzo affirmed that the Sector Minister has approved the installation of three power plants in Tema, Kumasi, and Gomoa.

He also highlighted plans for a new gas pipeline from the West to Greater Accra, capable of delivering over 1,000 megawatts.

 

He therefore highlighted the megawatts that the Volta River Authority is about to build in support of power transmission upgrades.
