GNFS Saves 17, Three Dead In Kpeve Road Accident.

Seventeen people were rescued by the Ghana National Fire Service after a crash near Woadze, Kpeve, on Friday, 22nd May 2026. The accident happened along the Kpeve–Asikuma road in the Volta Region.

The Peki Fire Station got the emergency call at 09:58 and moved quickly to the scene. A Mercedes-Benz commercial bus with registration GR 8231 C was involved.

The vehicle was on its way from Abotuase to Ningo in Greater Accra with 20 people on board — 11 men, 5 women, and 4 children.

Firefighters managed to pull out 13 adults and 4 children from the badly damaged bus. Unfortunately, 3 adults, 2 men and 1 woman, died at the scene.

Officers from the Kpando Divisional Command of the Ghana Police Service and ambulance crews from Afadjato and Juapong helped transport the injured and the deceased to Kpando Government Hospital and Peki Government Hospital for care and further action.

Investigations into what caused the crash are ongoing.

The GNFS has again reminded drivers to stick to road safety rules and avoid overspeeding.
