If We Dont Deserve A 24hr Market, We Equally Dont Deserve A Refuse Dump “Barekese Youth DCE And Assembly Authorities.

The youth of Barekesse in the Atwima Nwabiagya North District have warned the DCE Hon. Mba Zakaria and the District Assembly that if they think Barekese dont deserves the 24-hour market after promising them with it and now wants to change the location to Asuofua whilst Asuofua already have three markets, they equally dont deserve the refuse dump of the whole district.
According to them, they have gathered information that the assembly together with the District Chief Executive, is expected to cut the sod for a 24-hour market project at Asuofua on Tuesday, despite earlier indications that the facility would be constructed in Barekesse.
The youth are questioning the rational behind the total silence and the ignoring of the Ashanti regional minister, the regional executives-NDC and the DCE after they were petition on this same issue.
Speaking at a press conference, the leader of the Barekesse Youth Association, Ernest Kwadwo Adusei, stated that they dont understand why the DCE still wants to take the project to Asuofua after had assuring the residents in December last year that government intended to build the market in Barekesse to boost business activities within the district.
Mr. Adusei explained that traditional leaders had already allocated a suitable parcel of land for the project.
He therefore expressed disappointment over reports that the market has been moved to Asuofua, warning that if the project is not brought to Barekesse, the community will not allow the Assembly to use any land in the area as a refuse dump site.
Some traders in the community also shared their views on the 24-hour market issue.
