Fire Guts Eddie K Boutique At Asokwa, Destroys Clothes And Perfumes Worth Thousands.

An inferno has completely destroyed Eddie K Boutique at Asokwa in the Ashanti Region, reducing clothes, perfumes, and other goods worth thousands of cedis to ashes.

The fire, which broke out yesterday around 8pm, swept through the entire shop, leaving nothing to be salvaged.
Eyewitnesses say the flames spread quickly through the boutique due to the flammable nature of the items on sale.

When Sompa News visited the scene, the entire store had been burnt beyond recognition, with charred remains of clothing racks, shoes, and broken perfume bottles scattered across the floor.

Shop owners and traders in the area looked on in shock as personnel from the Ghana National Fire Service battled to douse the flames and prevent it from spreading to adjacent shops.

The Municipal Chief Executive for Asokwa, Hon. Amoh Kamel, who was at the scene, commended the Fire Service and the Electricity Company of Ghana for their swift response.
“I want to command the Fire Service and ECG for their quick response. If they had delayed, the fire would have caused serious damage to other properties here,” Hon. Amoh Kamel said.

He noted that the quick intervention helped contain the blaze to Eddie K Boutique alone, saving other businesses in the enclave from destruction.
The cause of the fire is not yet known. Officers from the Ghana National Fire Service have commenced investigations to establish what triggered the blaze.

Meanwhile, the owner of Eddie K Boutique is yet to comment on the estimated cost of damage.

Traders in the area are calling for improved fire safety measures in shops to prevent similar incidents, especially in structures that house flammable goods like perfumes and clothing.
