Demonstrators Demand The Immediate Removal Of The MCE After Her Refusal To Accept A Petition Concerning Lack Of Development.

A formidable pressure group, the Amenfi West Citizen Network, alongside indigenes of Wassa Amenfi West Municipality, is unequivocally calling for the removal of Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Priscilla Yorke, due to her blatant refusal to accept their petition over the weekend.
Both the pressure group and residents confidently marched through Asankragwa township, voicing their deep dissatisfaction over the stalling development efforts, despite the municipality’s rich mineral resources and other contributions to the nation.
The group intended to present their petition directly to the MCE.
However, the Coordinating Director’s unwarranted intervention prompted the group to withdraw, refusing to deliver their demands.
Benjamin Bray, also known as “Great Pablo,” interviewed Mr Akwai Ofori, chairman of the Amenfi West Citizen Network, who affirmed their belief that the MCE’s personal visit to receive the petition would demonstrate her commitment to the people.
Her absence, however, unmistakably signals her disinterest in serving the community.
Mr. Akwai Ofori confirmed they would leave empty-handed, citing the MCE’s failure to be present.
He further accused Hon. Priscilla Yorke of misallocating approximately 10 billion old Ghana Cedis on unnecessary renovations of her official bungalow, highlighting her disregard for development needs.
Mr Ofori strongly urged President John Dramani Mahama to appoint a new leader who genuinely seeks to develop Wassa Amenfi West.
Meanwhile, the demonstrators, joined by the pressure group, insisted that her refusal to receive their petition plainly indicates her lack of interest in the municipality’s progress.
Another participant emphasised that unaddressed issues, such as the poor road network—from Bawdie to Asankragwa and from Asankragwa to Sefwi Bekwai are clear signs of neglect.
They demanded her immediate reshuffle, accusing her of failing to promote development.
Furthermore, Mr. James Kwaw Quaicoe, Secretary of the Amenfi West Citizen Network, pointed out that politicians make lofty promises during campaigns but neglect their commitments once in office.
He condemned the current state of affairs in Wassa Amenfi West, calling it pathetic and urging traditional leaders and politicians alike to be ashamed of their inaction.
End.
