Central Region Floods, 18 dead,58 Buildings Collapse After 3days Downpour.

The Central Regional Director of the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) has confirmed that 18 people died, 58 buildings collapsed, and 877 others were affected in the Central Region following prolonged heavy downpours from Friday, June 19 to Sunday, June 21, 2026.

During the at a press briefing held at the Ekon Community this afternoon,a disaster site, Regional NADMO Director Mr. Emmanuel Kwesi Mensah Dawood explain that out of the 23 districts, only 13 were affected,he revealed that Cape Coast Metropolis recorded the highest number of fatalities with 8 deaths.

Meanwhile,regional director appealed to cooperative bodies and CEOs to support flood victims.

“As we are speaking, our stores are empty there are shortages of relief items,” he said.

Mr. Dawood also issued an urgent evacuation order, stating that anyone who has built houses in water-prone areas must evacuate within two weeks to avoid future casualties.
