Krachi East Municipality Revamps Market Infrastructure, Paving Way For 24-Hour Economy Project.
In a significant move aimed at enhancing living standards and transforming the economic landscape of the Krachi East Municipality, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Hon. Safo Nketia, has overseen the evacuation of marketers from the old market site to newly constructed market shells.
This relocation is a crucial step in the ongoing progress of the 24-hour economy project, which is set to bring about substantial development for the region.
The assembly has allocated its common funds to erect new market structures, providing a modern and organized space for traders.
A portion of the old market area has been repurposed for the construction of the ambitious 24-hour economy project, signaling a forward-thinking approach to urban and economic development.
Hon. Safo Nketia shared that the project faced initial hurdles regarding land acquisition for the new market.
However, the generous support and land donation from traditional leaders were instrumental in facilitating the relocation of the marketers to a suitable new site.
He expressed optimism that the 24-hour economy project, currently progressing at a rapid pace, is expected to be completed by next year.
Addressing accusations from political opponents, the NPP, who doubted the feasibility of the 24-hour economy initiative, Hon. Safo Nketia affirmed their commitment to proving them wrong.
He emphasized that the creation of new market shells was a direct response to the need for a better trading environment, ensuring that traders can continue their livelihoods comfortably and contribute to the assembly’s Internally Generated Funds (IGF) for further municipal development.
The marketers, led by Madam Abena, expressed initial sadness about the move but have since come to appreciate the benefits of the new, more comfortable facilities.
They extended their gratitude to the government and the MCE for their diligent efforts in transforming the market.
