Regional Minister Bemoans Land Shortage For Developmental Projects, Calls For Better Use Of Common Fund.
The Central Regional Minister Hon. Ekow Aduamoah Panyin has raised concerns over the growing challenge of land availability for development projects in the Awutu Senya East Municipality(Kasoa).
The Minister made the remarks during a working tour of the municipality, where he assessed ongoing development activities and also observed accounting to the people forum organised by the Assembly.
According to him, the rapid growth of the municipality has created significant pressure on available land, making it increasingly difficult to secure suitable spaces for public and other developmental projects.
He therefore called on traditional leaders to make lands available to support the municipality’s development.
He also urged the Assembly to make prudent use of resources received through the District Assemblies Common Fund, stressing that effective utilization of such funds was critical to providing the needed infrastructure and services for residents.
He further expressed concern about the municipality’s low Internally Generated Funds (IGF), saying there was a need for the Assembly to explore its numerous revenue-generating opportunities and improve revenue collection, adding that his outfit would support the Assembly with the necessary infrastructure and capacity-building initiatives to enable it to generate more revenue for development.
Meanwhile, the MCE for Awutu Senya east Hon. Seth Banini also spoke to the media after the accounting to the people forum.
