Kasoa Ofaakor Odupong Traditional Authorities Demand Dismissal Of MCE Over Gross Incompetence And Disrespect.

The Kasoa Ofaakor Odupong Traditional Authorities are calling for the immediate reshuffling and removal of the Awutu Senya East Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Hon. Seth Serwonoo Banini, accusing him of gross incompetence and disrespect towards traditional authorities.
The traditional leaders made the demand during the celebration of the 2026 Awubia Festival in Kasoa, where they expressed concerns about the administration and development of the municipality.
According to the authorities, the MCE has, since assuming office, presided over what they described as a non-performing Municipal Assembly.
They cited the latest ranking of Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) in the Central Region, which placed Awutu Senya East at the bottom.
The traditional authorities also accused Mr. Banini of showing disregard for them and interfering in chieftaincy matters.
They further stated that the MCE haa made comments portraying traditional authorities who are custodians of land as land guards and intruders—an allegation they said they considered unacceptable and disrespectful.
Speaking to the media during the festival, the Boundary Chief of the Awutu Traditional Council, Nai Atopi, made a call stating that “We are calling on the President and the Central Regional Minister to remove the MCE and appoint someone competent and willing to work with the traditional authorities to develop Kasoa.”
Nai Atopi stressed that the traditional authorities do not want Mr. Banini to continue serving as MCE on their land, arguing that a new leader should be appointed who would collaborate effectively with the traditional authorities to advance development in the municipality.
The Mankrado of the Odupong Ofaakor Stool, Nai Darko Ankrah, and the Odikro of Kasoa, Nai Saani Seidu, also expressed strong opposition to what they described as attempts to use political authority to intimidate traditional leaders.
They maintained that political power should not be used to undermine the authority of traditional institutions, emphasizing the need for mutual respect and cooperation between the Assembly and traditional authorities.
