Two Persons Drown In Gomoa Nyanyano Within Three Days.

Two persons, including a six-year-old girl, have drowned in the sea at Gomoa Nyanyano in the Gomoa East District of the Central Region within a period of three days.

The first incident involved a man believed to be in his late 50s, who drowned after reportedly visiting the seaside with his grandson to swim and collect seawater following a spiritual directive from his pastor.

His body was retrieved three days after the incident, following the performance of traditional rites.

In a separate incident, a six-year-old girl was reported missing after she allegedly went to the seaside with two other children to dispose of refuse.

According to reports, after dumping the refuse, the girl removed her clothes and went into the sea to swim but failed to return.

Several announcements were made at information centres in an attempt to locate her.

Some residents who heard descriptions of the clothes she was wearing reportedly indicated that they had seen similar clothing along the seashore.

Traditional rites have also been performed to aid in the retrieval of the girl’s body, but so far, the efforts have yielded no results.

Drowning incidents at Gomoa Nyanyano occur occasionally, particularly during festive occasions and holidays when visitors from outside the community troop to the area for leisure and relaxation.
