Prison Officer Allegedly Butchers Okada Rider at Kenyasi.
A prison officer has allegedly assaulted an Okada rider at Kenyasi in the Asutifi North District of the Ahafo Region.
According to the victim, Opoku Afriyie, a person contracted him to pick up a sack containing yam. He said that while carrying out the task, a prison officer, together with three prisoners, approached him and accused him of being a thief.
Opoku Afriyie alleged that the officer and the three prisoners assaulted him, including attacking him with a cutlass, before taking him to the police station.
He said they were subsequently directed to go to the hospital for medical treatment.
The family of the Okada rider is demanding justice, insisting that Opoku Afriyie is not a thief and calling for the officer involved to be brought before the law.
The Kenyasi District Police Command is currently investigating the matter.
