WN/R Juaboso NPP Denies Akandoh’s Allegations Of Partisanship In Electoral Commission Appointments

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) constituency executives in Juaboso have dismissed allegations by the Member of Parliament (MP) for the area, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, over claims of political bias within the Electoral Commission (EC).

Akandoh, who is also the parliamentary candidate for the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), alleged during a recent press conference that the Juaboso District EC Director had been replaced with an individual aligned with the NPP. He further accused the new director of recruiting 33 NPP loyalists to serve as EC officials, raising concerns about the potential compromise of the 2024 electoral process.

In response, the NPP regional secretary, Mr Felix Foster Ackaah describing Akandoh’s claims as “baseless” and an act of desperation. The accusations lacked evidence and were part of an attempt to distract voters from his poor performance during his three terms in office.

The NPP executives expressed surprise at Akandoh’s sudden distrust of the EC official, noting that the same individual had overseen previous elections in the constituency without controversy. They emphasized that the EC in Juaboso had consistently demonstrated impartiality and cooperated with all political stakeholders.

Meanwhile NPP Juaboso constituency chairman and DCE Mr Affum Kroko and Hon Kwabena Agyei Asante respectively said “Kwabena Mintah Akandoh knows he is on the brink of losing the upcoming elections due to his poor track record. This baseless accusation is a clear sign of panic and an attempt to discredit the integrity of the Electoral Commission.

The executives urged the public to treat Akandoh’s allegations with the contempt they believe they deserve and called on him to provide evidence if he has any credible proof of wrongdoing. They also reaffirmed their commitment to fair and transparent elections in the Juaboso constituency.
