Illegal Miners Given Two Weeks To Vacate Forest Reserves, Water Bodies-Dr Amoakohene

The Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr. Frank Amoakohene, , has issued a stern warning to illegal miners operating in forest reserves and water bodies within the Ashanti Region.

They have been given a two-week ultimatum to vacate the areas or face the full force of the law.

This move is part of the government’s efforts to curb the devastating effects of illegal mining, also known as galamsey, which has ravaged many parts of the country.


The activity has led to widespread deforestation, pollution of water bodies, and destruction of farmlands .

Dr. Frank Amoakohene made this known when he engaged with the Kumasi media to discuss the roadmap for the region’s development this afternoon.
