14 Year Old Student Drowns In Pra River At Twifo Praso

A tragic incident occurred in Twifo Praso on March 2, 2025, when a 14-year-old Form 2 student from Twifo Praso D/A Basic School lost his life in the Pra River, in the Twifo Atti Morkwa District of the Central Region.

According to eyewitnesses, the victim, identified as Nana Asamoah, also known as “Yesu Papa,” had gone to the river with three friends to catch fish. In an unfortunate twist, the group decided to swim across the river’s deepest point.

Asamoah, without hesitation, jumped into the water but failed to resurface. His friends immediately searched for him but were unable to locate him.

The situation quickly escalated, and the matter was reported to the local elders, who organized a search party.

After an extensive search, Asamoah’s body was eventually retrieved from the river, but only after the Linguist of Twifo Tuffoe, D.C Kwakye, performed a traditional libation ritual.

Following the recovery of the body, the Twifo Atti Morkwa District Police Commander, Superintendent Charles Addai Boateng, along with a team of police officers, visited the scene.

They transported Asamoah’s body to the Twifo Atti Morkwa District Hospital mortuary for further investigation.

This heartbreaking loss of a young life serves as a poignant reminder of the critical importance of safety and caution, particularly around river bodies. It highlights the need for individuals, especially children, to prioritize their well-being and heed warnings when engaging in potentially dangerous activities.
