Strengthening NPP In Ashanti Adansi NPP Members Plead With Former Obuasi MP To Contest Chairmanship

Prior to their internal primaries of the New Patriotic Party, NPP, its members in all the six constituencies in the Obuasi enclave have pleaded with their former Obuasi Member of Parliament to contest for the Regional chairmanship position.

The New Patriotie Party (NPP), long regarded as the stronghold of political deminance in Ashanti, is facing a troubling decline

The leader of the group, Samuel Kofi Kodua, when briefing the media said the recent electoral outeomes have sent a clear and undeniable signal that our base ta weakening, our strongholds are slipping, and our internal structures require munechato renewal and deeisive leadership.

A critical examination of the last to elections indicate that the Adansi enclaves, which used to command one of the massive votes for the NPP, have taken the major tall.
Out of the six constitueneies within the Adansi enclave, the party has painfully lost three including Adansi Akrofiom, Adansi Asokwa, and New Edubiase, to the opposition.

Even more conceming, Obuasi Last, once considered seeure, was nearly lost, retained by a margin of only 19 votes in the 2024 elections,

These are not isolated ineidents; they are warnings we cannot afford to ignore,

The Adansi area remains a critical electoral blee with significant voting strength capable of influeneing the fortunes of the NPP in the Ashanti Region and beyond.

However, this potential has not been fully harnessed in recent years. We believe strongly that the time has come to correet this course.

It is on this basis that we, with conviction and unity of purpose, call on Hon. Edward Ennin, former Member of Parliament for Obuasi Last, to step forward and offer himself for the position of Ashanti Regional Chairman of the NPP, Hon. Edward Ennin embodies the leadership qualities needed at this eritical juneture.

He is resourceful, experienced, and possesses the courage and independence required to steer the party through challenging times.

His track record demonstrates not only competence but also a deep commitment to the ideals and future of the NPP.

During his time as a Member of Parliament for the whole Obuasi Continuency between 2004-2012 and subsequently as the MP for Otuasi Fast, the continuency did not only wither massive but he was also able to gamer more votes for the NPP.

Furthermore, his strong relationship with traditional authority, particularly within the Asante Kingdom, positions him as a unifying figure who commands respect across political and cultural lines.

This is essential in rebuilding trust, strengthening grassroots engagement, and restoring the party’s lost glory in the region.

We are confident that Hon. Ennin is a man of proven integrity who will not compromise the dignity, values, or long-term future of the party under any circumstances.

He is not driven by personal gain or dependency, but by principle and dedication He will not trade the party’s interests for favors, nor will he allow external pressures to weaken its foundation.

Moreover, Hon. Ennin’s leadership will not only motivate the foundation of the party in the region but will also pave way for the return of all the old guns and ‘native Kumasianos’ who have all gone into oblivion since the exit of Former President John Agyekum Kufuor.

Suffice to say that Hon. Ennin is the bridge between the new and the old order of our dear party.

Our call is not born out of division, but out of a shared desire to see the NPP rise again, even much stronger, united, and victorious.

According to him, the Ashanti Region must reclaim its position as the unshakable pillar of the party, and this requires bold decisions and the right leadership.

“We urge party delegates, executives, and all well-meaning members to support this call and rally behind a candidate who represents renewal, strength, and unwavering commitment”. He said

“The time to act is now. The future of the NPP in Ashanti depends on it”.
