Akwatia NPP Demands Response From Mp Over Fraud Allegations.
Members of the New Patriotic Party in the Akwatia Constituency are demanding an urgent clarification from the Member of Parliament for Akwatia, Hon. Bernard Bediako Baidoo, Esq., over allegations of fraud involving Pastor Kelvin Elson Godson, General Overseer of Zoe Outreach Embassy Church in Accra.
The allegations reportedly concern a property transaction involving Pastor Kelvin and the Member of Parliament.
The constituency NPP says the matter is generating public concern and could have negative implications for the image of Akwatia.
Speaking during a media engagement, the Akwatia Constituency NPP Organiser, Mr. Kwadjo Owusu Aduemi, said the allegations against the MP are creating reputational concerns for the constituency.
He said the people of Akwatia expect their Member of Parliament to focus on development and represent the constituency with dignity.
Mr. Aduemi therefore called on Hon. Bernard Bediako Baidoo to publicly clarify his involvement in the matter to help bring the issue to an end and protect the image of the constituency.
Meanwhile, I engaged the Member of Parliament, Hon. Bernard Bediako Baidoo, Esq., at his office to seek his response to the concerns raised by the constituency NPP.
In an off-record conversation, the MP explained that he is not the principal party in the matter but is acting as a lawyer for persons whom Pastor Kelvin is alleged to have defrauded.
He indicated that, because the matter is connected to an ongoing legal case in which he is acting as counsel, he could not comment extensively on it.
Hon. Bediako Baidoo further suggested that those raising concerns should invite Pastor Kelvin Elson Godson to explain his side of the matter so that the circumstances surrounding the case can be properly understood.
The allegations remain subject to clarification and any applicable legal proceedings.
