Quack Surveyors Blamed For Central Region’s Land Disputes Court Chaos- LiSAG Regional Chairman.

The Central Regional chapter of the Licensed Surveyors Association of Ghana (LiSAG) has sounded the alarm over the escalating number of land dispute cases flooding courts in the region, pointing the blame on untrained and unlicensed surveyors.
Speaking at an association’s welfare meeting at the University of Cape Coast (UCC), which brought together professional surveyors and technicians from district levels,
The Regional LiSAG Chairman Alhaji Surv. Alhassan Nantogmah Alhassan revealed that courts are overwhelmed with land related litigation.
Many cases arise from inaccurate boundary demarcations, multiple sales of the same land, and fraudulent documentation perpetrated by quack surveyors.
“The figure of land dispute cases landing in court is alarming,a significant portion of the cases in court can be traced to the work of untrained surveyors who lack the technical knowledge and professional ethics required for proper cadastral surveying,” the Regional chapter Chairman stated.
To bridge the gap, Alhaji Nantogmah said the association proposed expanding mentorship programs to discuss surveying modalities and urged licensed surveyors to unite in educating their untrained counterparts.
He was addressing the media during a meeting focused on the association’s welfare and professionalism.
Chairman, highlighted specific areas in the region plagued by land disputes that have ended up in courts.
He further called on untrained surveyors to come forward for basic training to help curb land disputes.
One participant, Surveyor Emmanuel Obodae, expressed delight at the engagement organized by the association.
He hoped the skills acquired would positively impact their work and urged all licensed surveyors not yet in the association to join.
End.
