PAC Tells Gomoa Central DCE To Be Vigilant Over Finance Department.

The Ranking Member of Parliament’s Public Accounts Committee (PAC), Samuel Atta Mills, has advised the District Chief Executive for Gomoa Central, Hackman Kobina Aidoo, to pay closer attention to activities within the district’s finance department headed by Simon Adjihu, following several financial infractions recorded against the assembly.
Speaking during the Takoradi zonal sitting of the Public Accounts Committee involving Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies from the Western and Central Regions, Hon. Atta Mills expressed concern about the number of audit infractions linked to the Gomoa Central District Assembly.
Addressing the DCE directly during proceedings, the Ranking Member indicated that there was a lot happening within the finance office that the assembly’s leadership might not be aware off.
According to Hon. Atta Mills, many of the infractions cited against the assembly originated from the finance office.
The ranking member also ask the Finance officer why he is doing things at your own pace, whenever you want.
He don’t care, There is a law that tells you how much is supposed to be paid, and there is a law that tells you when payment is supposed to be made.
The DCE, Hackman Kobina Aidoo, in an interview explained that although the Assembly has a qualified chartered accountant, delays in the release of the Common Fund and the District Development Facility (DDF) continue to affect payments and operations.
He noted that the slow inflow of funds has made it difficult for the Assembly to undertake projects and settle obligations on time.
