Shama-Nyankrom Youth Block Main Road Over Poor Road Conditions, Disrupt BECE And Twyford, Marcopolo Operations.

Youth of Shama-Nyankrom this morning carried out their threat to demonstrate over the deplorable state of their road, halting the movement of trucks transporting clay to Twyford Ceramics and Marco Polo Tiles, manufacturers of tiles and water closets.
The youth, who burnt car tyres to block the road, also obstructed the movement of BECE candidates and their teachers for hours despite the presence of police.
The leader of the Nyankrom Concerned Youth, Israel Kwesi Eshun, speaking to the media said the demonstration follows government’s failure to honour a one-month ultimatum to return contractors to site to fix the road.
According to him, the road has been severely damaged by heavy-duty trucks serving the tile manufacturing companies.
He vowed that the demonstration would become a daily exercise until the contractor returns to site.
An administrator of Unique Star Education Complex at Nyankrom, Blessing Mensah, also told the News team how the demonstration disrupted the movement of BECE candidates and affected normal academic activities.
