Stolen Agogo Shrine Idols Returned After Suspect Allegedly Runs Mad Following ‘Mysterious Yam’ Incident.

Idols and ritual items stolen from a shrine at Agogo have been recovered and returned after a dramatic turn of events involving a gang leader who reportedly ran mad after eating a mysterious yam.

According to the Agogo Traditional Council, the shrine was broken into by unknown assailants who made away with idols and other sacred items.

The items were later traced to Accra, where the suspects had taken them.

Traditional authorities say the breakthrough came after a yam appeared from nowhere before the gang leader.

He took it, cooked it, and ate it, but shortly after, he allegedly went mad.

Nana Agyei Frimpong, Gyaasehene of the Agogo Traditional Council, told the media that the gods of River Akogya forced the suspect to carry the stolen items from Accra back to Agogo on May 14.

“The items have now been returned to the shrine of Akogya,” Nana Agyei Frimpong said after libation was poured to cleanse the shrine and restore its sanctity.

One of the suspects, identified as Kofi Frimpong, has been interdicted by Agogo Police and is assisting with investigations.

The traditional council said the incident serves as a warning against desecrating sacred places, and thanked the community for supporting the process of recovery and reconciliation.
