Driver Arrested With 3,500 Rounds Of Ammunition On Accra–Assin Fosu Highway.

The Central Regional Police Command has arrested a man for allegedly possessing 3,500 rounds of ammunition without lawful authority during an intelligence-led operation on the Accra–Assin Fosu Highway.

The suspect, identified as Francis Ampomah, was arrested on Tuesday, May 27, 2026, at about 12:30 a.m. at the Green Field Plantation snap-check point.
According to the police, officers intercepted a Toyota Voxy vehicle with registration number GT 9748-26, which was being driven by the suspect from Accra towards Assin Fosu.

A search conducted on the vehicle uncovered 14 boxes of shotgun ammunition concealed in the car.
Police said each box contained 250 cartridges, bringing the total number of ammunition retrieved to 3,500 rounds.

The suspect was immediately arrested and is currently in police custody assisting with investigations.
The vehicle used in transporting the ammunition has also been impounded by the police.

The Central Regional Police Command says investigations into the matter are ongoing.
