We’re Doomed When It Rains”: Esaso Residents Decry Flooding, Dust, And Death Traps On Adankwame-Esasoa- Pasoro Road.

Residents of Esaso in the Atwima Nwabiagya North District of the Ashanti Region are living in fear as the deplorable state of the Adankwame-Esaso-
Pasoro road continues to endanger lives and cripple economic activities.

According to the aggrieved residents, the road becomes a river whenever it rains. Floodwaters cover the entire stretch, making it impossible for vehicles, motorbikes, and even pedestrians to use. School children are often forced to stay home, while traders and farmers are unable to transport their goods to nearby markets.

During the dry season, the situation is not any better.

Thick dust clouds engulf the community daily, causing respiratory problems, especially among children and the elderly. Residents also complain of several uncovered manholes and deep potholes along the stretch, they describe as “death traps.

“We are suffering too much. When it rains, the floods take over everything. We can’t go out. In the dry season, the dust will kill us.

The open manholes are dangerous. At night you can fall inside and die.”

Speaking on behalf of the Residents, the Assembly Member for the Esaso Electoral Area, Hon. Boakye Agyeman James, told Angel Tv News that several petitions have been sent to the District Assembly but no action has been taken.

He warned that with the rainy season fast approaching, the community risks being completely cut off.

“As the rains set in, we are doomed if the authorities don’t intervene.

The Adankwame-Esaso-
Pasoro road is in a terrible state. The flooding is severe, the dust is unbearable, and the open manholes are death traps. We need urgent action.”

Hon. Boakye revealed that pregnant women and the sick are the worst affected, as ambulances and taxis often refuse to ply the route, especially at night or after rainfall.
