Awutu Traditional Council Bans Noise-Making, Druming Ahead Of 2026 Awubia Festival.

As part of their ritual performances ahead of the Awutu Awubia Festival 2026, the Nananom of Awutu State in the Central Region has banned drumming and noise-making on Awutuland.

The Awutu Awubia festival is one of Ghana’s most historic festivals, teaching Ghanaians about their beliefs, norms, and history.

In an interview with Angel news, the Awutu Awubia planning committee chairman who doubles as the Kyidomhene and Chief of AwutuOkwabena, Nai Ampim Darko-Tetteh stated that the validation of this noise-making ban is three weeks from June 2nd to June 25th, 2026, urging all people on Awutuland to follow the protocol or face sanctions.

Awutu Kasoa, Awutu CP, Awutu Yamoa-Nkwanta, Awutu Akweley, Awuutu Loye, Awutu Otopiase, Awutu Bawjiase, Awutu Beraku amongst over 300 Communities are affected by the ban.

Other activities prohibited by the Traditional Ruler include spinners playing music in pubs, church activities with instructions, funeral ceremonies, and weddings, among others.

Nai Ampim Darko-Tetteh has therefore warned that any perpetrator who would be recalcitrant will be dealt with harshly.

We do these things to ask for new blessings, grace, mercies, and people’s transformation.

The Awutu State is pleading with all residents and people to respect our traditions and obey the regulations so that they are found culpable.

Moreover, the Chief of Awutu Bentum, Nai Bentum II, has also urged all residents living on Awutu lands to adhere to the ban on drumming and noise-making.
