Assembly Members for Odumase and Keniago Appeal to Government to Reinstate Roadside Maintenance Workers.

The Assembly Members for the Odumase and Keniago Electoral Areas in the Ahafo Ano North Municipality of the Ashanti Region, Hon. Emmanuel Acheampong and Hon. Frederick Osei, have appealed to the government to reinstate workers responsible for regular roadside maintenance and bush clearing.
The appeal was made during a communal labour exercise organized by the two Assembly Members to clear overgrown road side along the Keniago–Odumase–Manfo road.
According to them, the road has become heavily overgrown with bushes, creating dangerous conditions for motorists and contributing to frequent accidents in the area.
Speaking during the exercise, the Assembly Member for Odumase Electoral Area, Hon. Emmanuel Acheampong, expressed concern about the discontinuation of roadside maintenance activities.
He noted that workers who were previously employed to clear roadside bushes have stopped working, and residents have not been informed about the reasons behind the suspension.
He therefore called on the government to restore the programme, emphasizing that it would not only improve road safety but also create employment opportunities for many young people in the municipality.
“We are appealing to the government to bring back the labourers who regularly weed the roadsides.
Their work helped keep our roads safe and also provided jobs for the youth,” he said.
The Assembly Member for Keniago Electoral Area, Hon. Frederick Osei, also appealed to the government and the Municipal Chief Executive for Ahafo Ano North, Hon. Kwasi Adusei, to decentralize the National Sanitation Programme to include smaller towns and rural communities.
According to him, extending sanitation initiatives to local communities would help address environmental challenges, improve cleanliness, and encourage residents to actively participate in community development.
