Suspected Yam Thief Shot Dead; Farmer In Police Custody.

A 35-year-old yam farmer, Kwabena Badam, has been arrested after allegedly shooting and killing a man suspected of stealing yams from his farm at Abongo No. 1 in the Oti Region.

Reports indicate the farmer had grown frustrated by repeated thefts and hid on the farm overnight to catch the culprit.

Around midnight on Saturday, the suspect allegedly returned to steal another sack of yams when the farmer reportedly opened fire.

The farmer later surrendered himself to the Dambai Police and is currently assisting with investigations into the incident.
