Central Region, Ghana – His Royal Majesty Osagyefo Amanfo Adu VI, the respected Omanhene of the Mankessim Traditional Council, has demonstrated his commitment to his people by personally funding and completing a crucial accessibility project for the Central Regional House of Chiefs.
This significant undertaking ensures that elderly and disabled traditional leaders, including chiefs and family heads (Abusuapayinfo), can now easily access the conference room situated on the upper floors of the regional administrative building.
For years, the physical structure of the Regional House of Chiefs presented a considerable barrier for its aging and mobility-impaired members.
The inability to navigate the stairs effectively meant that these respected individuals were often excluded from important meetings, deliberations, and decision-making processes that are vital for regional governance and development.
This situation was a cause for concern and a challenge that the traditional leadership had been seeking to overcome.
Osagyefo Amanfo Adu VI, who has a known heart for helping the elderly and individuals facing challenges, recognized the profound impact this lack of accessibility had on the community.
He firmly believes that in every society, mutual support and assistance are fundamental to human growth and progress.
Driven by this philosophy and a promise made to the Regional House of Chiefs, he took it upon himself to address the issue directly.
The project, commissioned entirely through Osagyefo Amanfo Adu VI’s personal financial contributions, involved the construction of a dedicated structure designed to provide seamless access to the upper-level conference facilities.
This thoughtful addition means that traditional leaders who may have difficulty climbing stairs can now ascend comfortably and safely, ensuring their full participation in all gatherings.
The President of the Central Regional House of Chiefs, Odeefuo Amoakwa Buadu VIII, has officially applauded the Omanhene of Mankessim for his exceptional generosity and foresight.
Odeefuo Amoakwa Buadu VIII, described the project as a critical solution to a long-standing problem, highlighting that it was a serious challenge for the House to accommodate members with physical disabilities.
He expressed profound gratitude, stating that it was “by God’s grace” that the Omanhene took the initiative to fund and build this structure out of his own pocket, thereby removing a significant barrier for the elderly chiefs and ensuring that the conference room is now accessible to all.
