Police Arrest Six Suspects During The Violent Attack At New Winneba.

On 01/09/2026 at 10:40 am, about 300 irate mob wielding guns, stones, cutlasses and sticks from Gomoa Oguakrom, Gomoa Yenkuadze and Gomoa Pomadze stormed the New Winneba Township, and other stores and residence of the natives, attacked them and caused damage to properties.

In the course of the attack, about 15 injured victims were sent to the Trauma and Specialist Hospital – Winneba, including an officer.

Three persons were confirmed dead by medical officer on duty.

Police personnel from the Winneba Divisional Headquarters, Agona Swedru Division, Mankessim Division, including the IGP’s special team, as reinforcement with two armoured vehicles from the National Headquarters were deployed to beef up security.

During the rioting and the attacks at New Winneba, Police arrested six suspects namely; Kweku Kakraba, 52 years, Arko Thomas 19years, Samuel Tulasi 19years, Samuel Gyasi 22years, Emmanuel Okyere 22years and Seth Osei 22years.

One locally made single barrel gun was retrieved, and one AAA empty cartridge was also retrieved from the crime scene.

The following measures have been put in place to avert further attack.

1. Six snap check points have been mounted in the area.

2. Day and night patrols have been intensified to avert further escalation of the situation.

3. ⁠PID and CID personnel have also been deployed to monitor the situation.

The area remains calm, and the situation is currently under control.

All six suspects are in police custody assisting with investigations.
