Odikro Of Ekumfi Tachiman Champions Education, Donates Over 2000 Learning Materials To Students.
In a heartfelt commitment to fostering academic excellence, Nana Kwesi Essel VII, the Odikro of Ekumfi Tachiman in the Ekumfi District, Central Region, has personally spearheaded an initiative to equip over 2,000 local school children with essential educational supplies.
The generous donation includes a substantial quantity of exercise books, pens, erasers, and refreshments, directly addressing the financial challenges faced by many parents in providing for their children’s studies.
Nana Kwesi Essel VII Odikro of Ekumfi Tachiman articulated his deep-seated belief that educational opportunities should not be hindered by economic hardship.
“As a traditional leader, it is my solemn duty to ensure that our children are not left behind,” he declared, emphasizing that the lack of basic materials should never be a barrier to their learning.
Beyond the material support, the Odikro issued a profound call to action for parents, imploring them to actively nurture their wards’ education.
He expressed concern over the increasing prevalence of children spending excessive time on mobile phones, engaged in social media and watching movies, often at the expense of their studies.
Nana Kwesi Essel VII encouraged parents to redirect their children’s focus towards academic pursuits, painting a vision of future leaders, including Members of Parliament and other dignitaries, emerging from their community through diligent learning.
To underscore the seriousness of this developmental imperative, the Odikro announced the forthcoming introduction of stricter community guidelines. Law enforcement measures will be implemented to address instances of children being found engaged in unnecessary activities after 9 PM, ensuring a greater emphasis on rest and study.

The Circuit Supervisor Officer (CSO) of the Ekumfi Education Directorate, Madam Esther Coffie, has issued a strong appeal to parents, urging them to foster a sense of togetherness in diligently looking after their children’s school books and educational materials.
She stressed the importance of prioritizing these essential learning tools over what she described as frivolous purchases like toffees, drinks, and biscuits, as well as non-essential “leader’s materials” that do not directly contribute to their academic progress.
Madam Coffie further elaborated on the critical role of parental supervision, warning that leaving children to their own devices can significantly increase the risk of teenage pregnancies.
She pointed to recent statistics that paint a grim picture, revealing that around 14,000 young people, within the vulnerable age range of 10 to 14 years, are currently pregnant. She unequivocally linked this concerning trend to insufficient parental care and engagement
Meanwhile, in a heartwarming display of appreciation, several students who have benefited from recent educational support initiatives lauded the Chief of Tachiman.
They expressed their enthusiastic gratitude, specifically acknowledging his provision of essential and amazing items for their studies.
The students articulated that these donations are particularly vital as their parents often find it difficult to afford such necessities.
