GIFEC Bono East Regional Manager Urges Youth To Take ICT Education Seriously

The Bono East Regional Manager of the Ghana Investment Fund for Electronic Communications (GIFEC), Madam Francis Atta Bafouwaa, has urged young people to take Information and Communication Technology (ICT) education seriously and participate in training programmes organised by GIFEC to enhance their digital skills.
She explained that GIFEC was established to bridge the digital divide by providing telecommunication networks for rural communities lacking connectivity. In addition, the agency supports schools with computers to strengthen ICT teaching and learning.
Madam Bafouwaa encouraged the public, particularly schools in need of ICT resources, to apply to GIFEC for support.
She further noted that the organisation also runs various training programmes to help young people and entrepreneurs learn ICT skills and use technology to create business opportunities.
“The internet pays a lot now,” she said, “so it is important for everyone to equip themselves with ICT knowledge to remain relevant in today’s digital world.”
She made these remarks on Friday, November 7, 2025, at the Techiman GIFEC Office, where 20 young people had just completed a training session on Artificial Intelligence (AI) and related digital courses.
The Techiman GIFEC Centre Manager, Mr. Muniru Kavua, also spoke at the event.
He stated that the centre is open to all residents of Techiman and offers a wide range of ICT training programmes.
He urged the public to take advantage of the opportunities available.
Mr. Kavua further explained that certificates issued by GIFEC are recognized and can be used to apply for jobs, making the training both practical and beneficial for career advancement.
End.
