Mfantseman MP Engages Market Queen Mothers, Fulfils Promises and Receives Their Concerns

The Member of Parliament (MP) for the Mfantseman Constituency, Hon. Dr. Ebenezer Prince Kojo Arhin, has held a stakeholder meeting with market queen mothers at the Mfantseman market to brief them on parliamentary activities and outline government plans aimed at supporting traders.

The meeting took place on Tuesday, January 13, 2026, and formed part of the MP’s commitment to maintaining close engagement with constituents beyond election periods.

In an interview with Douglas Oyiboh Amponsah, Hon. Dr. Arhin assured the market women that he would not wait until election time before visiting them, emphasizing his dedication to their welfare.

In fulfilment of a promise he previously made, the MP announced plans to repair the shelter under which the market women sell their goods.

To demonstrate his commitment, he arrived with carpenters, roofing sheets, nails, and other essential materials required to undertake the repair or renovation works in the market.

He further noted that, the president Mahama-led government is making significant strides in improving the lives of citizens through various development initiatives.

The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Mfantseman, Hon. Eric Stanley Acquah, who accompanied the MP, also addressed the gathering.

He spoke on the recently introduced market tax, acknowledging concerns raised by traders.

He assured the market women that he, together with the MP and other relevant stakeholders, would meet to deliberate on the matter in order to address the disturbances the new tax has caused and to ensure continued peace within the market.

In the final session of the meeting, several market queen mothers voiced their grievances and sought clarification on various issues affecting their trading activities.

Numerous questions were raised, reflecting the concerns and expectations of the market women.
