Mankessim In Shock As “Osofo” 63s Found Death At His Room

Residents of New Nkusukum in Mankessim, within the Mfantseman Municipality of the Central Region, have been thrown into a state of shock following the discovery of a middle-aged man of God who was found dead and decomposing in his room days after he reportedly passed away.

The deceased, believed to be in his 60s and popularly known in the area only as “Osofo,” was discovered under disturbing circumstances. His real name and the church he belonged to remain unknown.

Speaking to Coastal FM/ Angel TV reporter Douglas Oyiboh Amponsah , the resident identified as Brother Philip explained that the incident came to light after his wife detected a strong, unusual odour emanating from the direction of the deceased’s room.

According to him, his wife had stepped out to hang clothes near the man’s house when she noticed an unbearable stench accompanied by an unusual swarm of houseflies around the room,raising suspicion that something was wrong.

Brother Philip said his wife quickly alerted him, and together they rushed to check on the “Osofo.” Upon entering the room, they were met with the lifeless body of the man lying on the floor in a decomposed state, suggesting he had died several days earlier.

Some residents who gathered at the scene said the odour in the area had become overwhelming, even before anyone gained access to the room,strongly indicating that the man had been dead for some time.

A neighbour who lived close to the deceased described him as an active and independent man who handled his affairs personally, expressing shock over the unfortunate development.

Another resident revealed that the deceased had recently mentioned that he had been transferred to Kumasi and would soon be leaving Mankessim,only for neighbours to later realize he had actually passed away days earlier.

The assembly member for new Nkusukum electoral area,Hon. Sorlin narrated and shared his side of the story and advised those who stays alone to keep company with someone to avoid such incident again.

The incident has left the community saddened and raising concerns about social isolation and the need for regular welfare checks, especially on elderly persons living alone.

The Mankessim police for about 11:00am after being informed refused to come to the scene,claiming they don’t have car until later came around 3:30pm with a taxi

Authorities are expected to take over investigations into the matter.
