Assin Kushea Chief Hands Over 10.72-Acre Land To GhIE For Engineering Village And Museum.

The Paramount Chief of the Assin Owirenkyi Traditional Area, Ahunuabobrim Nana Pra Agyensaim VI, has officially handed over a 10.72-acre parcel of land at Assin Kushea in the Assin North District to the Ghana Institution of Engineering (GhIE) for the construction of an Engineering Village and Museum.

The ceremonial handover took place on Monday, February 23, 2026, and marked a significant step towards the establishment of a major engineering and innovation hub in the area.

President of the Ghana Institution of Engineering, Ing. Ludwig Hesse, said the Engineering Village Project will feature an industrial park, conference centre, engineering museum, eco-park, hostel facilities and residential accommodation.

He explained that the facility will also promote Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) education by providing practical training opportunities for basic school pupils, particularly in areas such as robotics and technical skills development.

Representatives from various institutions, including utility providers and telecommunications companies, were present at the ceremony.

Meanwhile, the Paramount Chief and President of the Owirenkyi Traditional Council, Ahunuabobrim Nana Pra Agyensaim VI, expressed delight about the project, describing it as a major milestone for tourism and socio-economic development in the Assin Owirenkyi Traditional Area.

He noted that the Engineering Village is expected to create employment opportunities, promote skills development and innovation among the youth, and stimulate economic growth in the area.

Nana Pra Agyensaim VI described the initiative as a long-term legacy project for the development of Assin Owirenkyi and its surrounding communities and called on residents and stakeholders to support its successful implementation.
