Fmr. Chief Of Staff Urges MCE To Transform Old Buildings Into Tourist Goldmine.

The Cape Coast Metropolitan Assembly (CCMA) has secured major commitments from the government, private individuals, and development partners to support five strategic projects under its (8)eight-year development plan, spanning 2026 to 2033;
these include constructing a children’s park, redeveloping the Atta Mills Library, upgrading the Cape Coast Metropolitan Hospital into a regional facility, restoring the Bond of 1844, and building a Cape Coast Museum.

The pledges came during a forum and fundraising event in Accra, where stakeholders gathered to mobilize resources and partnerships for the historic coastal city’s growth.

At the Forum,former Chief of Staff under late President Jerry John Rawlings, Lawyer Nana Ato Dadzie, commended the assembly for launching the long-term plan.

He urged Cape Coast Mayor, Hon. George Justice Arthur, to redevelop old buildings in the metropolis to enhance the city’s appearance, attract tourists, and generate revenue.”

Many buildings on Cape Coast’s principal streets are dilapidated and unsafe, the metro assembly must engage owners to redevelop them with investors to attract visitors and create revenue,” Mr. Dadzie advised.

Speaking to the media after the event, Metropolitan Chief Executive George Justice Arthur called the programme a success.

He thanked stakeholders for backing the assembly’s development agenda and assured protection of all individual contributions to complete the projects.

The Conference of Heads of Basic Schools, Cape Coast Chapter, which attended the event, said the lack of museums and children’s parks hinders children’s learning.

Conference Chairman, Madam Philomena Charlotte Forson, commended the assembly and endorsed the projects on behalf of members,noting they will greatly benefit schoolchildren.
