Dr. Callistus Mahama Funds GHC 1 Million Renovation Of Salaga Government Hospital Facilities.

The Member of Parliament for Salaga-South Constituency, Hajia Zuwera Mohammed Ibrahimah, has officially handed over newly renovated and fully re-equipped facilities at the Salaga Government Hospital to its management.
The ceremony, held on Wednesday, April 8, 2026, formed part of the MP’s ongoing constituency engagement activities.
It was attended by Rev. Fr. Neriius Dongyem, Parish Priest of the Catholic Church in Salaga, and Mr. Imoro Michael Abu, who represented Dr. Callistus Mahama.
The project, which covered the renovation and re-equipment of the female surgical ward, female medical ward, Out-Patient Department (OPD) block, and the administration block, was fully funded by Dr. Callistus Mahama through the office of the MP.
According to Hajia Zuwera Mohammed Ibrahimah, the refurbishment of the female wards North and South was undertaken in memory of Dr. Mahama’s late mother, Mrs. Solomey Afishata Ama Mahama, with the aim of improving comfort and healthcare delivery for patients and staff.
She further disclosed that as the initial renovation works neared completion, Dr. Mahama extended his support to include a facelift of the OPD and administration blocks.
In total, the project cost GHC 1,000,000.00 and facilitated the procurement of essential medical equipment, including hospital beds, electric beds, wheelchairs, patient monitors, blood pressure apparatus, examination beds, drip stands, air conditioners, tables, chairs, and other supplies.
A remaining balance of GHC 10,034.30 from the project funds was, upon Dr. Mahama’s directive, presented as a cheque to Dr. Bernard Maanikuu to support additional hospital needs.
Speaking at the event, Mr. Yaw Tabi, popularly known as Ofa Yaw and Deputy Director of Nursing Services at the hospital, commended the initiative, noting that the impact of the intervention extends beyond Salaga to benefit patients from surrounding areas such as Bimbila and Kpandai.
He emphasized that the project would significantly enhance healthcare delivery across the northern part of Ghana.
Hajia Zuwera Mohammed Ibrahimah expressed profound gratitude to Dr. Callistus Mahama for what she described as an exceptional act of generosity and commitment to public service.
She noted that his continued support has been instrumental in driving development within the constituency, adding that their collaboration remains focused on improving the lives of the people of Salaga-South.
