Assin Central MP Moves To Fix Deplorable Roads To Boost Local Economy.

The poor state of road networks continues to pose a major challenge to development in the Assin Central Constituency of the Central Region.

This is not only stifling economic growth, but also increasing transport costs, and isolating several communities.

In a bid to reverse the trend, the Member of Parliament for Assin Central, Hon. Nurein Shaibu Migyimah, has reaffirmed his commitment to ensuring that road rehabilitation becomes a top priority in the constituency.

As part of this effort, the MP, together with engineers from the Central Regional Urban Roads Department and contractors, toured several deplorable roads across the municipality to assess their condition.

The inspection covered key routes including the New Town roads, the Assin Fosu Ring Road, Odado–Akoa Samuel road, and the Assin Brofoyedru–Akropong–Oda road.

Speaking after the exercise, the MP said the initiative forms part of broader efforts to improve road infrastructure, enhance traffic flow, and ensure pedestrian safety within the constituency.

He noted that particular attention is being given to roads linking Assin Brofoyedru, Akropong, and Wurakese communities that host a significant portion of the constituency’s population adding that improving these roads will support farming activities and ease the movement of goods to market centres.

The MP further highlighted the importance of the road network connecting Akyem Oda to Nkawkaw, describing it as a critical route that could significantly reduce travel time for commuters heading to Kumasi and Accra.

He was accompanied on the tour by the Municipal Chief Executive for Assin Fosu, Hon. Adams Gariba and some party executives in the constituency .

Meanwhile, the MCE indicated that while waiting for major contractors to begin full-scale work, the Assembly, in collaboration with the MP, has deployed DRIP machines to undertake reshaping works on selected roads to make them motorable.

He also urged residents of Assin Central to support government initiatives aimed at improving livelihoods and accelerating development in the area.
