Amangoase-Akyease Drivers Lament Deplorable Road, Say Robberies And Breakdowns Hurting Business.

Commercial drivers who ply the Amangoase to Akyease stretch in the Atwima Mponua District of the Ashanti Region are complaining bitterly over the poor state of the road.
The drivers say the deplorable nature of the road is severely affecting their business, forcing them to visit mechanics at Magazine almost daily to service their vehicles.
“When it rains, the road becomes unmotorable and very slippery. During the dry season, we suffer from heavy dust. We spend all our earnings on repairs,” one driver told Sompa News.
According to them, the Amangoase-Akyease road has deteriorated badly and urgently needs to be reshaped to make it safe and motorable.
The Assembly Member for the Aneamoa Ntobroso Electoral Area, Mr. Domfeh Emmanuel, confirmed the situation, stating that the poor road is hindering development in the area.
“The road is really hindering development in this area. Farmers cannot transport foodstuffs, and traders are struggling. We need government’s urgent intervention,” Mr. Domfeh said.
Adding her voice, Ntobroso Obaapani Akua Abrefi II disclosed that the bad road has also created security threats for commuters and residents.
“The road is not helping us at all. Due to its poor nature, armed robbers often attack drivers and passengers, especially in the evening. We are living in fear,” she lamented.
The drivers and residents are therefore appealing to the Atwima Mponua District Assembly, the Ashanti Regional Coordinating Council, and the Ministry of Roads and Highways to urgently rehabilitate the Amangoase-Akyease road to boost economic activities and improve security in the area.
