Galamsey Menace School Authorities Forcefully Shut School, Youth Criticize And Opposes Sale Of Land For Illegal Mining In Kwahu.
Leadership of Kwahu Yerenkyi Krom M/A Basic school in the Kwahu South Municipality of the Eastern Region has prematurely shut down the school to express their displeasure to the beating and manhandling and eventually Handcuffing of a Teaching Staff without prove of any action.
Meanwhile, the Youth and citizens are pointing fingers and accusing the Chief and his Elders for involving in the selling of their farm lands for mining illegally in the area.
According to the agitated youth, the authorities together with the chief and Elders initially brought a heavily military men and Macho Men to beat and assaulted them due to their opposition to the menace.
Speaking to the media, on behalf of the Youth group, Mr. Kofi Duku said, this is the third time this incident is being brought up by the chiefs and elders to beat them for their in ability to accept Galamsey in the Area.
He said, the military and macho Men uppon appearing in the enclave involved teachers in the school to their victims, beaten and assaulting them and eventually Handcuffing a teacher who is there to teach who is not even part of the citizens opposing to the menace, hence the teaching fratanity’s action of closing down the school.
He therefore called on higher authorities in government to come to their aid to prevent any possible chaos in the Area.
According to him, they have lounge a formal complaint to “Nkawkaw Atta Ne Atta” Police Station but till yet no action has been taken to bring calmness to the area.
