Offinso South MCE Expressed Opinion Over The Supreme Court Ruling On Delegates System As Unconstitutional.

The Supreme Court has ruled that the delegates system used by political parties to select flagbearers and parliamentary candidates is unconstitutional.

The decision has already sparked reactions from political stakeholders across the country.

In its ruling, the apex court held that limiting the selection of candidates to delegates violates the democratic principles enshrined in the 1992 Constitution, which guarantees equal participation for all party members.

Reacting to the judgment, the Municipal Chief Executive for Offinso South, Hon. Frank Owusu Amoah, expressed dissatisfaction with the ruling.

Speaking in an interview with Angel Tv News reporter Bismark Mensah, Hon. Owusu Amoah said the decision undermines the internal structures and autonomy of political parties.

He argued that the delegates system has for years provided an organized and manageable way for parties to conduct internal elections.

According to the MCE, the ruling could create logistical and financial challenges for political parties, especially when it comes to organizing elections involving all registered party members nationwide.

He, however, added that his party will study the full judgment and take a collective position on the way forward.
