Ahafo Ano North MCE Distributes Livelihood Support Equipment To Persons Living With Disabilities.

The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Ahafo Ano North in the Ashanti Region, Hon. Kwasi Adusei, has distributed livelihood support equipment and financial assistance to Persons Living with Disabilities (PWDs) in the municipality to help improve their economic wellbeing and standard of living.

The items were presented to beneficiaries at a brief ceremony held in Tepa, with beneficiaries drawn from various communities within the municipality.

The support package included 43 refrigerators, two wheelchairs, one industrial sewing machine, seven fufu pounding machines, and one solo spraying machine, while 41 beneficiaries also received cash support to enable them to establish or expand their various income-generating activities.

Speaking at the ceremony, Hon. Kwasi Adusei said the government remains committed to empowering Persons Living with Disabilities to become economically independent and contribute meaningfully to the development of their communities and the country at large.

He highlighted the commitment of President John Dramani Mahama and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) government to improving the welfare of PWDs, noting that the allocation of the District Assemblies Common Fund for Persons Living with Disabilities has been increased from three percent to five percent.

According to the MCE, the increase in the allocation demonstrates the government’s commitment to providing PWDs with the necessary support to improve their livelihoods and become self-reliant.

Hon. Kwasi Adusei urged the beneficiaries to make proper use of the equipment and cash support provided to them and ensure that the intervention becomes a sustainable source of income for themselves and their families.

He strongly cautioned the beneficiaries against selling the items, stressing that the equipment had been provided specifically to support their livelihoods.

Some of the beneficiaries expressed their appreciation to the government and the Ahafo Ano North Municipal Assembly for the support, describing it as timely and beneficial.

They pledged to use the equipment and financial assistance for their intended purposes and work towards improving their economic conditions.

The beneficiaries further assured the Assembly that they would take good care of the items and utilize them effectively to become financially independent and improve the wellbeing of their families.
