SSNIT Urges Employers To Prioritise Timely Payment Of Workers’ Contributions.

The Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) has urged employers to prioritise the timely submission of contribution reports and payment of workers’ social security contributions to safeguard the future of pensioners.
The Deputy Director-General in charge of Benefits at SSNIT, Mr. Adam Sulley, made the call in Takoradi during the 2026 Employers’ Workshop held under the theme “Employers as Partners in Driving Compliance to Secure Ghana’s Workforce.”
He described employers as the lifeblood of SSNIT, stressing that their compliance with the scheme is essential to ensuring that pensioners receive their benefits without difficulty.
Mr. Sulley explained that employers are expected to submit their contribution reports and pay workers’ contributions between the first and fourteenth day of every month.
He cautioned that when employers delay or fail to make the required payments, the ultimate victim is the pensioner.
Mr. Sulley said the workshop was also intended to educate employers on new developments at SSNIT and explore better ways of strengthening engagement and improving compliance.
According to him, SSNIT has partnered with Ecobank and other strategic partners to provide discounts and other benefits to contributors.
He believes the initiative will make the scheme more attractive, particularly to young workers, and encourage more people to join SSNIT and begin securing their financial future early.
The Western Regional Manager of the National Pensions Regulatory Authority (NPRA), Mr. Ken Hubert Hanson, commended SSNIT for organising the workshop, describing employers as critical partners in building a sustainable pension system.
He stressed that without the active participation and compliance of employers, sustaining Ghana’s pension system would be difficult.
End.
